Miss Hellfire Wins $125,000 Aquis Gold Pearl

Tara Madgwick - Saturday January 8

Yarraman Park’s Hellbent has his first winner and Triple Crown Syndications will have a runner in the $2million Magic Millions 2YO Classic next Saturday after promising filly Miss Hellfire scored a stylish victory in the $125,000 Aquis Gold Pearl (1100m) at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Miss Hellfire beat all bar Soaring Ambition when running a terrific race on debut last month for a close second in the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

This time, she raced on the pace for Ben Thompson and forged clear at the finish to win by three-quarters of a length clocking nearly a second quicker time that Mishani Spartan did when winning the Aquis Gold Nugget.

“She’s a really nice filly, the Wyong race wasn’t run to suit, so there was a lot of improvement to come,” said Paul Snowden.

“Dare I say it, she’s travelled up here too well and I’m really keen to back her up next week as she’s still got a bit more left.”

Fillies dominate the betting for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic with Miss Hellfire now a $15 chance behind the fillies Coolangatta (Written Tycoon), Russian Conquest (Russian Revolution) and Soaring Ambition (Not a Single Doubt).

Miss Hellfire was a modest $60,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Newgate Farm draft for Triple Crown Syndications and she is bred to be good being a half-sister to ill-fated stakes-winner Xtreme Time and US Group I placed colt Caracaro.

Miss Hellfire was bred and sold by Newgate.

Bred by SF Bloodstock and foaled and raised at Newgate, Miss Hellfire is the second Australian foal from Peace Time (USA), a placed War Front  daughter of US Group II Hollywood Oaks winner Santa Catarina, who was also four times Group I placed.

Peace Time was bought by SF Bloodstock for $US260,000 from the 2016 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale and has a yearling filly by More Than Ready (USA), but no foal last year after missing in 2020.

Miss Hellfire is the first winner for I Am Invincible’s Group I winning son Hellbent, who has 23 entries for Magic Millions next week.
