Kingstar has that Golden Glow

There’s nothing like a Golden Slipper winner to put an emerging farm firmly on the radar for all yearling buyers.

Located in prime horse country near Denman in the Hunter Valley, Kingstar Farm is owned by prominent thoroughbred breeder Matthew Sandblom, who has quickly made an impact on Australia’s greatest two year-old race, the Golden Slipper.

Champion 2YO Stay Inside is Kingstar Farm's first G1 winning graduate- image Steve Hart.

He shared in the ownership of Golden Slipper winner and now leading sire Capitalist and more recently bred and sold the 2021 Golden Slipper winner and Champion 2YO Stay Inside under his Kingstar Farm banner.

Kingstar Farm will present a draft of 11 yearlings for sale at the Gold Coast by a range of popular sires including three by rising star Russian Revolution and two by Capitalist.

“We had over 60 inspections on Kingstar and there have been a lot of buyers inspecting on the complex already,” said Conor Phelan of Kingstar Farm.

“Kingstar is only a young farm and it has been such a thrill to see our “star inside crown” brand on the Magic Millions promotions courtesy of Stay Inside.

“This is only our second Magic Millions Yearling Sale and the bar has been set pretty high, but we’ve brought up a draft of good types that we think lives up to expectations.”

The star of the show for Kingstar is undoubtedly Lot 325, the half-sister by Russian Revolution to Champion 2YO Stay Inside, a winner of $2.2million.

A quality filly bred on similar lines to Stay Inside, who is also by a grand-son of Redoute’s Choice in Extreme Choice, the star filly is the third foal from Nothin’ Leica Storm, who comes from the family of Caulfield Guineas winner Wonderful World.
