One to Watch – Sandown

Tara Madgwick - Monday January 3

Three year-old colt Pascero was easy in the market and despite being slowly away, he loomed into contention after turning for home and zoomed past the hot favourite Matao Ma like he was tied to the fence.

Held together on the line by Luke Currie, Pascero took the 1300m maiden by a length and three-quarters in a dominant display.

“He’s done everything right today apart from being slow away, which he needs to iron out as you can’t keep doing that when you get up in class,” said Luke Currie.

“It was only his first go today, whether it this time or next time there are better races in store for him, but he couldn’t have won much better today.”

Pascero was a $575,000 Inglis Premier purchase.

Bred and offered for sale by Blue Gum Farm, Pascero was a $575,000 Inglis Premier purchase for First Light Racing / Busuttin Racing / Paul Willetts Bloodstock making him the most expensive Pierro colt sold in Australia in 2020.

He is a half-brother to stakes-winner Express Pass and is the fourth winner from four to race from good producer Pass the Parcel, a winning More Than Ready (USA) mare from the family of Group I winners Kementari and Sterling City.

Pierro has 18 entries after withdrawals for Magic Millions and you can see them here.
