Three Wins on the Trot for Clemenceau

Tara Madgwick - Saturday January 1

A Breednet ‘One to Watch’ when breaking his maiden at Hawkesbury in November, Capitalist three year-old Clemenceau kept the wins coming when saluting at Flemington on New Year’s Day to put the spotlight on his Magic Millions bound yearling half-brother.

Trained by Team Hawkes for Alan Bell, Clemenceau raced on the pace from barrier one for Jye McNeil and powered to the line to win the 1100m Benchmark 70 event by a short neck taking his overall record to three wins and a third from four starts.

A $260,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Newgate Farm draft, Clemenceau has already banked over $130,000 and runs for Alan Bell, whose colours have been carried by champions such as Schillaci and Grand Armee as well as Deep Field and Star Turn.

Bred by SF Bloodstock and partners, he is the second winner from stakes-placed Capital Commander, who comes from the family of Golden Slipper runner-up How Funny and Group II winner Twining.

Newgate Farm will offer the yearling half-brother by Deep Field to Clemenceau at Magic Millions 2022 as Lot 835.
