Magic Millions Possible for Supido First Winner

Tara Madgwick - Saturday December 11

Former brilliant Sebring sprinter Supido is off the mark with his first winner after talented colt Stupendo made a winning debut at Flemington on Saturday for the Danny O’Brien stable bringing a great pedigree update for his Magic Millions bound half-brother.

Sent out equal favourite along with his stablemate Hell Hath No Fury, a daughter of Hellbent, Stupendo did everything right in the run to travel strongly all the way for Craig Williams before kicking clear near home.

Although tiring late, he had enough left to win the 1000m dash by half a neck over Impending filly Kin with Hell Hath No Fury a late closing fourth.

“He did well to hang on as he was there to be beaten late and there is plenty of fitness to come,” said O’Brien.

“We’ll consider the Magic Millions race although Coolangatta does look very hard to beat, but we’ll see how he comes through the run. He’s definitely a colt that has plenty more to come.”

A $120,000 Magic Millions purchase for his trainer from the Widden Stud draft, Stupendo was the second highest priced yearling from the first crop of Widden Stud’s promising young sire Supido.

Bred by Widden Stud in partnership, Stupendo is a half-brother to stakes-winner Absolute Flirt and is the second winner from winning Northern Meteor mare Bisutti, a half-sister to stakes-winner Pressing, who is by Supido’s sire Sebring.

Widden Stud will offer the current yearling from Bisutti, a colt by Trapeze Artist at Magic Millions as Lot 807 and she has foaled again this spring producing another colt by the same sire.

Supido is a Premium stallion, click for more information.
A fast straight track sprinter, Group III winner Supido stands at a fee of $8,800.
