One to Watch – Moonee Valley

Trained by Team Hawkes for Alan Bell, Clemenceau led from barrier one and controlled the race under Jye McNeil, winning the 1200m sprint by more than two lengths in a dominant display.

“He did it at both ends and it’s pretty hard to do it at both ends, so he’s done a really good job,” said Wayne Hawkes.

“First start he was bad on the wet track then went to the paddock and came back and bolted in the other day and then has done it again here. He’s a nice horse, going somewhere.”

A $260,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Newgate Farm draft he  runs for Alan Bell, whose colours have been carried by champions such as Schillaci and Grand Armee as well as Deep Field and Star Turn.

Bred by SF Bloodstock and partners, he is the second winner from stakes-placed Capital Commander, who comes from the family of Golden Slipper runner-up How Funny and Group II winner Twining.

Newgate Farm will offer the yearling half-brother by Deep Field to Clemenceau at Magic Millions 2022 as Lot 835.
