I Am Invincible Filly Impressive

Tara Madgwick - Friday December 3

The Chris Waller stable brought up an early double at the Randwick meeting on Friday afternoon when promising I Am Invincible filly Kir Royale shed maiden status with a dominant win at her second start.

Given a solid grounding at the barrier trials with six heats under her belt before a debut raceday second on November 20 at Gosford, Kir Royale showed the benefit of all that ground work today.

She changed gear at the 100m to forge clear of her rivals and win the 1300m maiden by nearly two lengths under Hugh Bowman.

A $425,000 Magic Millions purchase for Waller Racing/Mulcaster Bloodstock from the Newgate Farm draft, Kir Royale runs for an ownership group that includes Frank and Christine Cook in whose colours she runs and her breeder Nick Vass.

Kir Royale was a $425,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Newgate Farm draft.

Kir Royale is the second named foal and second winner from stakes-winning Street Sense (USA) mare Champagne Cath.

Champagne Cath has a yearling filly by I Am Invincible and has foaled this spring producing a filly by Exceed and Excel.

I Am Invincible ended the program with another promising three year-old winner when the John O’Shea trained colt I Am Lethal saluted over 1400m in the Benchmark 72 event.

With two wins and a second from five starts, I Am Lethal has won nearly $80,000 in prizemoney and is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Group I ATC Coolmore Classic Stakes winner Steps in Time.
