First Australian Stakes-Winner for Kingman

Tara Madgwick - Saturday November 27

Frankel was not the only Juddmonte Farm sire to post a Group winner at Caulfield on Saturday with his barn mate Kingman getting in on the act when talented import Sinawann (GB) opened his account in Australia with a win in the Group III MRC Kevin Heffernan Stakes (1400m).

Trained by Anthony and Sam Freedman, five year-old stallion Sinawann was having his second start in Australia and produced a powerful late finish to charge home and win with Craig Williams in the saddle.

A Group III winner in Ireland in 2020, Sinawann was very consistent in Group and Listed mile races for previous trainer Michael Halford and has picked up in Australia right where he left off.

Bred and raced by the Aga Khan prior to his private sale to an Australian ownership group that includes Glentree Thoroughbreds, Sinawann looks to have bright prospects going forward.

“He’s a really nice European import with a lot of upside when he really starts putting things together,” said Williams.

Sinawann is a half-brother to stakes-winner Silwana and two more stakes-placed horses being the best of four winners from stakes-placed Anabaa  mare Simawa, a half-sister to Champion 3YO Sinndar.

Sinawann is one of 42 stakes-winners for Invincible Spirit’s champion son Kingman, but is his first in Australia.

Kingman has one at stud in Australia in Coolmore based Calyx (GB), whose first foals are on the ground this spring.
