Being born into a horse family tends to shape your way of life with a childhood of competitive riding leading to a long term career in thoroughbreds for this former star Pony Club girl from WA.

Jane Beynon at Magic Millions.

This week we find out more about Jane Beynon, who owns and runs WA based Einoncliff Park Thoroughbreds with her husband Wayne.

1.  Where are you from, and what got you in involved in the thoroughbred industry?

I grew up in the south west of WA, currently living in Boyanup 15 mins from Bunbury on our property Einoncliff Park. I was born into a horse family and we all competed eventing and show jumping, while Mum was into dressage, coaching and was competitive. I don't think I had a lot of choice about whether I'd ride horses or not!!!

It was definitely a way of life.   I went through Pony Club gaining my  "A" cert and represented WA nationally.

Dad also trained a few racehorses, so I rode a few of the quiet ones in my early teens, that progressed to working for various trainers and doing trackwork. Once leaving school I became a Vet Nurse, working for Dr Mike Sier in an Equine only Clinic. He also had a thoroughbred stud, so I would do a bit out at the farm also. I think this is where the love of breeding and the industry in general was born!!

2.  What does a workday in the life of Jane Beynon look like?

This time of year it's all things breeding. I do all the foaling down and mare care, we had 33 foals born on the farm this season. We're a small operation and try and be as hands on as possible. Thankfully I have fantastic girls working for me.

Yearling prep is about to begin, so its early mornings and solid days.

3.  Who is your favourite horse and why?  Got to love "Chautauqua" - He gave you goose bumps with his unbelievable turn of foot and his naughty antics.

4. Tell us about the best day you had at the races or at the sales, and what made it memorable for you?

Jane and Wayne Beynon enjoy a day at the races.
Love any race meeting, but couldn't beat Chantilly for the Oaks!!!The location and backdrop with the chateau is amazing.

5.  What is your favourite show on Netflix or TV?

Love anything funny and light hearted.

6. Now that travel has opened again where is the first place you will go?

Europe - love the culture and history!! Just be nice get back on a plane!!

 7. What is your favourite cuisine and restaurant?

Any food that I don't have to cook is a winner, but I do love Italian. Georges on the Gold Coast is good.

 8. Name two things on your bucket list?

I would like to attend Royal Ascot and Dubai World Cup.

 9. What’s the best advice someone has ever given you?

"Keep things simple - stick to the basics"

10.  Tell us one thing that not many people may know about you?

In my more athletic days I was a good cross country runner, I still hold the record at my high school 35 years on!!
