Merson Cooper Stakes Sale Mail

Tara Madgwick - Friday November 26

The Listed MRC Merson Cooper Stakes (1000m) proved to be a step on the path to greatness for champion colt Anamoe, so a closer look at this year’s race is well warranted with $1million Zoustar colt Brereton engaged along with an unraced filly that is pushing him for favouritism.

Brereton was a $1million Magic Millions purchase from the Widden Stud draft.

With a second and a win at his only starts, Brereton is the testing material, but the Peter and Paul Snowden trained Ebhaar is expected to give him a run for his money.

A homebred for Emirates Park, this I Am Invincible filly is a half-sister to Group III placed Shotmaker and metro winner Sienna Rose being from Maroon Bay, a three-quarter sister by Exceed and Excel to dual Group I winner Merchant Navy, Group II winner Jolie Bay and stakes-winner Setanta.

Expensive Capitalist filly Kiko will also make her debut and is a $720,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Newgate Farm draft.

Kiko is the most expensive yearling filly sired by Capitalist.

The most expensive filly by her sire, Kiko is a half-sister to US Group III winner Azul Coast from Group II winning import Sky Treasure (USA).
