One to Watch – Wyong

Tara Madgwick - Thursday November 25

Best known as the sire of outstanding sprinter Lost and Running, Per Incanto (USA) gave us a One to Watch on Thursday with a debut winner at Wyong on Thursday trained by Matthew Smith.

Three year-old filly Per Ivy carries the same colours as Lost and Running with Carl Holt sharing in the ownership of both horses.

Some good recent trial form saw Per Ivy sent off as favourite and she did not disappoint.

Allowed to find her feet early, Per Ivy hot the line hard for Jason Collett to win the 1000m maiden by a neck running away with her final furlong easily her best.

Per Ivy was a modest $40,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Sledmere Stud draft for her trainer and was bred by Little Avondale Stud, who also stand her sire Per Incanto.

Per Ivy was a $40,000 Inglis Classic purchase.

She is a half-sister to stakes-placed Princeton Spirit and is the fourth winner from unraced Towkay mare Ivy Hall who comes from the family of Group I winners Candide, Nadeem and Marju Snip.
