Debut Winner for American Pharoah

Tara Madgwick - Thursday November 25

Peter Moody produced a debut winner for American Pharoah (USA) at Pakenham on Thursday when three year -old filly Lady Court defied the lack of interest from punters to score a determined win.

She travelled well in the run behind the leaders and hit the front after turning for home, keeping up a good gallop to win the 1400m maiden by three-quarters of a length.

The win came as no surprise to her trainer, who holds the filly in good regard as he knows her family well having trained her half-sister In Good Health to win multiple stakes races and over $300,000 in prizemoney.

“She’s a nice filly and bred by great clients of mine in the Ramsey family up at Turangga Stud and we’ve had a lot of joy in these colours,” said Peter Moody.

“She’s a half to In Good Health, who won the Heatherlie for us last year and was a very handy mare so she has a good future.

“You’ll see more of her, she’s a good metropolitan class filly and probably doesn’t have to find a lot next prep to be stakes class.”

Lady Court is the fourth winner from four to race from good producing More Than Ready (USA) mare Fitness, who is also the dam of Group III placed Garrard.

Triple Crown winner American Pharoah is finishing off his fifth season for Coolmore Australia and stands at a fee of $49,500.
