Russian Revolution Trial Winners Impress

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday November 23

Newgate Farm’s young gun Russian Revolution has had a flurry of runners at the trials in recent weeks and sired two impressive heat winners on Tuesday morning in Sydney and Brisbane.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained colt Rise of the Masses was second in his first trial in early November and stepped out again this morning in a 1050m heat at Randwick.

He was asked to do a bit more this time by James McDonald and worked to the line well to forge clear and win by two and a half lengths.

A homebred for Sir Owen Glenn’s Go Bloodstock, Rise of the Masses is the second living foal from Group I winner Ruud Awakening, who was bought from the 2015 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for $675,000.

Also successful for Russian Revolution at the Doomben barrier trials was the Allan Chau trained filly Russian Warrior, who travelled deep all the way and  charged home to win her 1000m heat by a couple of lengths.

A $425,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Sledmere Stud draft for A List Stud, Russian Warrior was the equal highest priced first crop yearling for Russian Revolution sharing the honour with his first winner Russian Conquest.

Russian Warrior was the equal highest priced first crop yearling for Russian Revolution.

Bred by China Horse Club, Russian Warrior is the second foal from Group II winning  Lope de Vega (IRE) mare French Fern, a very good 2YO that won the Group II ATC Reisling Stakes.

A dual Group I winning son of champion sire Snitzel, Russian Revolution has a growing number of two year-olds getting ready for their debut and is set to make an impact at the 2022 Magic Millions Yearling Sale where 39 of his yearlings have been catalogued.

Russian Revolution

Russian Revolution is priced this spring at $44,000 and looks great value if his stocks rise quickly in the manner of his barn mates Capitalist, Deep Field and Extreme Choice.
