Two Out of Three for Zarastro

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday November 17

A $1,050,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Segenhoe draft for Waller Racing/Mulcaster Bloodstock, good looking I Am Invincible colt Zarastro took another step forward at Rosehill on Wednesday when scoring a stylish victory.

Trained by Chris Waller for Coolmore and partners, Zarastro was taking on older rivals in the Benchmark 72 event over 1300m and did everything right to power clear and win by more than a length.

Even though he was drawn the outside in the field of 11, Glyn Schofield was able to get the colt across to travel smoothly in second place and he made light work of it in the end.

With two wins and a second to subsequent stakes-winner Paulele at his only three starts, Zarastro has already won nearly $90,000 with a spell and the lure of Group racing in the autumn looking to be his immediate path forward.

Zarastro was a $1,050,000 Magic Millions purchase.

Bred by Fairway Thoroughbreds, Zarastro is the first foal of Zabeel’s speedy Group II ATC Light Fingers Stakes winner Adrift, a half-sister to the dam of this season’s Group II winner Entriviere.

Adrift has a yearling colt by Merchant Navy and produced a filly by I Am Invincible this spring and has been covered by him again.

Zarastro is one of 78 Australian winners this season for Yarraman Park's champion sire  I Am Invincible, who is setting a brisk pace to be Australia’s leading sire of winners once again.
