A proven form pattern, a gear change and times are the key factors in determining our top three best bets at Kembla on Saturday.
AANVOERDER (Race 5 No 1)
Aanvoerder from the Bjorn Baker stable just missed resuming behind Sprinting To Win at Kembla last start and looks set to go one better on Saturday in the Kevin Robinson Memorial Cup F&M Class 1 Handicap (1200m) with the first-up run under her belt.
Aanvoerder has missed a place just once in her six-start career finishing fifth at Beaumont resuming last campaign but it is worth noting the daughter of Commands took plenty of benefit from that first-up outing to come out and win her maiden at Hawkesbury second-up.
A repeat is on the cards this time around.
MOSS TRIP (Race 6 No 6)
The addition of a set of winkers to the gear of the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Moss Trip looks the catalyst for the three-year-old filly to return to the winner’s list in the Noahs Ark Berry Cup Benchmark 63 Handicap (1400m).
A Kembla winner on debut in her only first preparation run, Moss Trip settled back in the field finishing out of the placings at Canterbury resuming before hitting the line strongly when a close second at Hawkesbury last time.
With the winkers on for the first time and launching from the inside gate it is reasonable to assume Moss Trip will be right on the speed on Saturday and should be too strong for her rivals.
BABE IN BOOTS (Race 8 No 1)
The Gwenda Markwell-trained Babe In Boots went down narrowly at Kembla last start, a good thing for followers of this column as we tipped Racenet readers into the winner Cedarwood ($15 at the time of publishing into $5) but I want to be on Babe In Boots to go one better on Saturday in the Rural Bitumen Services F&M Maiden Handicap (1400m).
There was plenty of merit in the daughter of Magic Albert’s performance with the winner getting all the favours in the run, indeed the result may have been different if Babe In Boots hadn’t laid out on the turn presenting the winning split to Cedarwood.
Cedarwood ran quicker time than the benchmark 68 winner on the day over the same journey and Babe In Boots just has to be in similar form to be right in the finish.
