Lot 267 The most expensive of the Australian purchases was the Group II Canadian stakes winner La Dragontea (GB) who was bought by Julian Blaxland and Rosemont Stud for US$1,375,000.
The daughter of Lope De Vega was narrowly beaten at her most recent starts in the Group 1 E.P. Taylor Stakes.
Her dam La Concorde (Sadler’s Wells) is a winning three-quarter sister to the champion Montjeu.
Lot 227. Kia Ora Stud went to $900,000 for Queen Supreme (IRE) who won consecutive runnings of the Group 1 Cartier Paddock Stakes in South Africa.
The daughter of Exceed And Excel is one of three stakes-winners out of the Gone West mare Call Later, which include the Listed Heatherlie
Stakes winner Call Me Handsome (Kodiac).
Call Later is a half-sister to Juddmonte’s triple Grade 1 winner Ventura.
Lot 237 Rosemont Farm, Freedman Racing, Julian Blaxland and Arthur Hoyeau pooled their resources to secure the Into Mischief mare Sound Machine for $750,000.
The winner of over $256,000, Sound Machine was a stakes-performer at two, three and four and was placed in the Grade II Princess Rooney Stakes.
By the champion sire Into Mischief, Sound Machine is a half-sister to the stakes-winner Forever Liesel out of the Distorted Humor mare Ava Pie.
Lot 138 Catheryne Bruggerman/ Paul Moroney Bloodstock went to $330,000 to secure the stakes-winning Munnings filly Always Inthe Munny.
A last start black-type winner at Lone Star Park, Always Inthe Munny has three wins, a second and a third from five starts.
She is a half-sister to two stakes-winners out of the winning Danehill mare Always a Star.
The Freedman Brother signed for two lots.
Lot 191 They outlaid $220,000 for I’llhandalthecash a multiple winner on turf and dirt who earned black-type in the License Fee Stakes at Belmont.
Her dam Sudden Ghost (Ghostzapper) is a stakes-winning daughter of champion filly at 3 in Canada, the Group 1 Selene stakes-winner Too Late Now (Raj Wiki).
Lot 217 The second purchase was for a young daughter of Uncle Mo, No Mo’ Spending, who was knocked down for $165,000.
A stakes-winner at Belmont Park last year at two, No Mo’ Spending is a sister to stakes-placed Blewitt who has earned over $236,000 to date.
She is out of the stakes-placed Montbrook mare Stopspendingmaria.
SF and Newgate Farm were busy with three purchases.
Lot 198 The Scat Daddy mare Lageretha (Chi) a stakes-winner and Group II placed in her native Chile was bought for $300,000.
Grade III-placed in the US this year, Lagertha is the best of five winners from as many to race out of the Indy Vidual mare Pat (Chi).
Lot 224 The Grade III winning Include mare Proud Emma came at a cost of $275,000.
A winner at two and three and Proud Emma won the Grade II Bayakoa Stakes at four and was runner-up in the Grade III Rancho Bernardo Hcp this season at five.
The winner of over $360,000, Proud Emma is the best of two winners from four to race out of the unraced Proud citizen mare Debutante dreamer.
Lot 147. Offered in foal to dual grade 1 winner Vekoma (Candy Ride), Hay Field was purchased for $110,000.
The stakes-placed daughter of the Speightstown stallion Haynesfield banked almost $500,000 with nine wins and nine placings.
A half-sister to stakes-winner Chief Istan, Hay Field is out of the Indian Charlie mare Mi Indian whose Grade 1 placed dam Carsona (Carson City) is a half-sister to 2-time Horse of The Year Wise Dan.
Overall, 26 mares made $1million or more.
Grade 1 producer Magical World in foal to multiple Leading Sire Into Mischief topped the sale when sold for $5,200,000 to Whisper Hill Farm and Three Chimneys Farm.
The 11-year-old daughter of Distorted Humor (lot 203) has produced four winners from four to race, including multiple Grade 1 winning millionaire Guarana (Ghostzapper); Grade II placed stakes winner Magic Dance (More Than Ready); and current three-year-old winner Beatbox (Pioneer of the Nile). Magical World is out of Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) winner Pleasant Home, from the immediate family of champion Sky Beauty and Grade 1 winners Violence and Tale of Ekati. Magical World also has a yearling colt by Gun Runner and foaled a colt by Quality Road this year.
Another heading to Whisper Hill farm is the record-setting Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Shedaresthedevil who topped the racing/broodmare prospects at $5,000,000.
The four-year-old daughter of Daredevil ran the fastest Kentucky Oaks in history, going 9 furlongs in 1:48.28 while defeating champions Swiss Skydiver and Gamine and Grade 1 winner Speech. Shedaresthedevil's seven graded stakes victories also include this year's La Troienne S. (G1) and Clement L. Hirsch S. (G1). To date, she has earned $2,331,458 under the tutelage of trainer Brad Cox and has won or placed in 15 of 17 career starts.
Eclipse Champion Swiss Skydiver was the sale's top broodmare prospect, selling for $4,700,000 to Katsumi Yoshida. The four-year-old daughter of Daredevil won five graded stakes last year en route to Champion Three-Year-Old Filly honors, including a victory in the Preakness S. (G1) over Kentucky Derby (G1) winner and subsequent Horse of the Year Authentic. Swiss Skydiver captured the prestigious Alabama S. (G1) at Saratoga last year at three and won this year's Beholder Mile S. (G1). She won or placed 12 of 16 career starts and earned $2,216,480 for owner Peter Callahan and trainer Kenny McPeek.
