Yulong Purchase Sister to More Joyous on Inglis Digital

Media Release - Wednesday October 27

Yulong has secured the full sister to 8-time G1 winner More Joyous for $320,000 in the Inglis Digital October (Late) Online Sale, with Sunday Legend set for a date with Written Tycoon.

Sunday Legend was bought by Yulong for $320,000.

The daughter of More Than Ready, from a family expertly developed over generations at John Singleton’s Strawberry Hill Stud was the sale topper and contributed to an overall gross of $2.99 million for the sale and 82% clearance.

“With the More Than Ready/Written Tycoon cross, it has gone really well in the past and this is one of the best families in the stud book so it’s great to get into it,” Yulong’s Sam Fairgray said.

“She’ll be here by the weekend so hopefully all going well, she’ll be covered some time next week and produce a stunning foal next year.”

Sunday Legend was offered by Bon Ho’s Legend Racing, following the sale of Joyous Legend for $1.025m in a bespoke Inglis Digital sale last week.

“That was such a good price, I was hopeful some stud farms would see that she was more valuable to them than she was to me and it’s great to see her go to Yulong,” Mr Ho said.

“She has good genes, good bloodlines and the final result is very satisfying.

“Inglis Digital is such a good platform to connect buyers and sellers and Inglis does such a good job in setting up those connections.

“It’s been a very good week, more than $1.3m for my two fillies through Inglis Digital, I’m very happy.’’

The Godolphin draft of 11 racehorses grossed $613,500 with Kordia (Medaglia d’Oro) topping the list at $135,000, purchased by Tamworth-based trainer Cody Morgan, in conjunction with Australian Bloodstock.

Cody Morgan also bought Regulation (Contributer) for $42,500.

“I couldn’t get to Riverside [Stables] but I had a friend look at the draft for me and I was more than happy to go ahead and purchase these two horses,” Morgan said.

“From what I could see online and from what my mate had told me, I knew everything I needed to know.

“Kordia looks like a horse I could run in races like the Tamworth Cup, races worth a couple of hundred thousand dollars and to be honest, he looks a ready-made horse for the Kosciuszko next year as well, we’re already looking that far out.

“Where you’d previously be paying closer to $100,000 for horses like this, you’re now paying that 30% or so extra but the prizemoney is so good that it’s worth it.

“I buy and sell with Inglis Digital a lot and have done so since its inception.

“I just love the convenience, whether I’m a vendor or a buyer, it’s not hard to get vets and different people to look at the horses when need be, all the information you need is literally at your fingertips so I love it.’’

It’s the third time Godolphin have offered a draft on Inglis Digital, Racing and Bloodstock manager Jason Walsh said the result was very pleasing.

“Once again it’s been a very satisfying experience selling with Inglis Digital, from start to finish it’s a very easy and productive process.

“One of the most pleasing aspects is to see return clients that have been great supporters of our tried horse sales over the years.

“Cody Morgan, Mitch Beer, Richard Litt – who bought two from this sale – and also high profile names like James Kennedy.

“They’re serious investors in the industry and it’s great to present a draft and get this result.

“We wish the purchasers all the best and thank the underbidders for their continued support.”

Other headline results from the October (Late) catalogue were 3YO Exceed And Excel filly Gloved bought by Clarken Racing for $115,000 and Vicennalia (More Than Ready) and her Dundeel colt at foot, purchased by Lakeview Resources for $105,000.

Fastnet Rock mare Crystal Rock has been confirmed for the November (Early) Online Sale, offered in foal to Vinery Stud’s young sire Star Turn.

A 3/4 sister to True Blonde and a half sister to Not A Single Doubt, Crystal Rock is the dam of G3 Sydney Stakes winner Big Parade, who is running in the $1 million Classique Legend this Saturday.

Inglis Digital will also have a representative in the G1 Victoria Derby on Saturday, with Gundec, a $10,000 buy from the 2020 August (Early) Online Sale, to jump from barrier three.
