One to Watch – Canterbury

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday October 27

Scratched from the Listed ATC Sir Brian Crowley Stakes last Saturday, this expensive I Am Invincible colt made a winning return at Canterbury on Wednesday.

Second on debut to subsequent Group II winner Paulele last December, Zarastro has been given plenty of time by champion trainer Chris Waller and was tuned up for his return with a recent trial win.

Sent out favourite in the Benchmark 68 event at just his second start, he powered to the line for Glyn Schofield to score a soft length win.

A $1,050,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Segenhoe draft for Waller Racing/Mulcaster Bloodstock, Zarastro runs for Coolmore and partners.

Zarastro was a $1,050,000 Magic Millions purchase.

Bred by Fairway Thoroughbreds, he is the first foal of Zabeel’s speedy Group II ATC Light Fingers Stakes winner Adrift, a half-sister to the dam of this season’s Group II winner Entriviere.

Adrift has a yearling colt by Merchant Navy and produced a filly by I Am Invincible this spring and has been covered by him again.
