First Stakes-Winner for Highland Reel

Tara Madgwick - Sunday October 24

Galileo’s champion son Highland Reel (IRE) is currently covering his fourth book in Australia at Swettenham Stud and posted his first stakes-winner overnight when two year-old filly Atamisque scored a commanding win in the Group II Premio Dormello (1m) at Campanelle in Italy.

A winner on debut earlier this month, the Alessandro Botti trained Atamisque was way too good for her rivals, opening up to win by three and a half lengths.

Bred by Stefano Botti, Atamisque is the first winner for Italian stakes-winner Aury Touch, a grand-daughter of US Group II winner Nasty Touch.

She is the first stakes-winner among nine first crop winners for Highland Reel, who stands at a fee of $16,500.

Highland Reel has two year-olds in Australia this season and his yearlings sold for up to $180,000 earlier this year with the top sellers below.
