She's Ideel Breaks Through in Kingston Town

Mark Smith - Saturday September 18

After five stakes placings including the Group 1 Tancred Stakes and Group 1 Winx Stakes, the six-year-old Dundeel mare She’s Ideel had her day in the sun in the Group III TAB Kingston Town Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on Saturday.

Ridden by Jason Collett for trainer Bjorn Baker, She’s Ideel kept up a relentless gallop to defeat the fast-finishing Kermadec mare Montefilia by one and a quarter lengths with a long-neck back to the 5yo gelding Ententem who gave Dundeel a 1-3 finish.

The list of She’s Ideel’s near misses include;

  • 2nd G1 Rosehill Kia Tancred Stakes 2400m (2021)
  • 2nd GIII Randwick Sharp Extensive It Aspiration 1600m (2021)
  • 3rd G1 Randwick Winx Stakes 1400m (2021)
  • 3rd GII Rosehill Millie Fox Stakes 1300m (2021)
  • 3rd G3 Rosehill Roadwork Solutions Epona Stakes 1900m (2021)

“She had to put her hand up today and she did,” Baker said.

“It was a great ride from Jason. He summed it up and it was a pretty easy watch throughout.

“She was bred with my father’s nomination. (Attunga Stud’s) Brian Nutt and the team have been my number one supporters since I got here. He’s a great family friend. Thrilled for the ownership group. Hopefully onto better things.

“She will go to the Metropolitan. Hopefully Fun Fact will go there too. She probably goes then down to Melbourne.”

Passed in when failing to make her $100,000 reserve when consigned by Lyndhurst Farm at the 2017 NZB Premier Yearling Sale, She’s Ideel advances her record to six wins, six seconds and five thirds from 23 starts with earnings of $972,575.

A half-sister to Group 1-placed Elusive Treasure (Northern Meteor), She’s Ideel is the best of five winners from as many to race out of the Melbourne winner Ana’s Mail (Anabaa).

Purchased by Harry McAlpine Bloodstock for $130,000 at the 2018 National Broodmare Sale, Ana’s Mail is a half-sister to Group III winner and Group 1 placed Shanzero, Listed stakes-winner what’s The Mail and a sister to stakes-placed Emerging Star.

Ana’s Mail has a 2yo Spirit Of Boom filly named She Delivers and was covered by Spirit of Boom again last season after missing in 2019.

She’s Ideel becomes the 15th stakes-winner for Arrowfield Stud’s Dundeel who stands for a fee of $66,000 this spring.
