Third Stakes Winner for Toorak Toff

Ridden by Declan Bates for Ballarat based trainer Richard Cully, the son of Toorak Toff led at every call to defeat Away Game (Snitzel) by a neck with Brave Song (Your Song) a short-neck back in third.

The homebred gelding advances his record to six wins and two seconds from ten starts with earnings of $283,150.

Bates said the son of Toorak Toff is a tough customer.

“I am absolutely delighted for Richie and his team. They do a fantastic job and that is my first winner for them, so it wasn’t a bad way do get the first one up,” Bates said.

“He had to be tough. He jumped clean enough. He was a touch keen through the first 400m so I let him roll and it was only when he got to the front he relaxed.

“From that point I was happy. I loved the way he extended off the bend so I knew at that point they would have to work to get to me. He was getting a bit tired late but he had done enough”

Pintoff is the best of five winners from as many to race out of the unraced Pins mare Pinsahoy. He is the final foal of Pinsahoy who was retired in 2019. Pintoff becomes the third stakes-winner for the Group 1 STC Golden Rose Stakes and Group 1 MRC Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes winner Toorak Toff (Show a Heart).
