Another runner confirmed for The Everest

The Australian Turf Club has announced which horse it has chosen to fill its place in the Everest next month.

The Darren Weir-trained Japanese import Brave Smash has been chosen by the club for the $10m sprint at Randwick on October 14.

James Heddo, general manager of racing services, told Sky Racing the club had narrowed the choice of horses to five before making a final selection.

"We put out expressions of interest a couple of months ago and we named a short list of five horses about ten days ago," Heddo said.

"We continued our discussions both internally and externally and we felt, being fair to everybody, it was timely to announce our decision."

Brave Smash won last time out in the Listed Chandler Macleod Stakes at Moonee Valley on September 9.

Heddo said announcing the ATC choice provides clarity for connections.

"This will allow Brave Smash to prepare solely for The Everest - obviously we think he'll be competitive in the race," Heddo said.

"We were really thrilled with the quality of horse that we were offered and we're really happy with the outcome."

Brave Smash is available at $11 for The Everest with Sportsbet.
