Another Promising Winner for Star Turn

Mark Smith - Friday May 28

Star Turn has another promising type in the John Sargent-trained My Snow Queen, who opened her winning account with a three and a quarter length romp in an all-aged fillies and mares maiden over 1300m at Goulburn on Friday.

Allowed to lope along on the outside of the pacesetting Saturnina, My Snow Queen quicked impressively when Keagan Latham gave a shake of the reins.

The 3yo Choisir filly After Dinner clocked in second, a head to the good of the 3yo Vancouver filly She's Justified.

It was the third start for My Snow Queen, who debuted with a close-up fourth behind the royally-bred Billiondollarbaby at Warwick Farm on April 28 before a narrow defeat at her most recent start at Hawkesbury.

My Snow Queen a $15,000 Scone Yearling

Purchased by Austin Racing for $15,000 out of the Jazcom Thoroughbreds draft at the 2020 Inglis Scone Yearling Sale, My Snow Queen is the first foal of the winning Casino Prince mare Lionel Left Me, a half-sister to the Group III Hawkesbury Gold Cup winner and $1million earner Amovatio (Al Maher), from the family of Emancipation.

It was a timely win for John North’s Bowness Stud, who will offer an Impending half-brother to My Snow Queen at the National Yearling Sale beginning on June 1 after he failed to make his $40,000 at the Gold Coast in January.

My Snow Queen becomes the 13th winner for Vinery Stud’s Star Turn and his 12th in Australia, second only to Capitalist (15).
