Ad Valorem's Laure Me In Captures Scone Cup

The six-year-year-old Ad Valorem (USA) gelding Laure Me In completed a good day for trainer David Pfieffer and jockey Rachel King when he powered home from near the tail of the field to win the Listed Darley Scone Cup.

In a ride eerily similar to her success on Rocha Clock in the Dark Jewel Classic, King came with a sweeping run down the centre of the track on Laure Me In to defeat Looks Like Elvis (All American) by a half-length with Order Again (Iffraaj) a half neck back in third.

Earlier in the day, the David Pfieffer-trained Flying Artie colt Artero in the $200,000 Inglis Challenge.

It was a maiden stakes success for Laure Me In, who was second behind Greysful Glamour in the Listed ATC Cup at Rosehill last November.

Purchased by Paul Willetts Bloodstock Consultancy for $32,000 out of the Coolmore Stud draft at the 2015 Australian Weanling Sale, Laure Me In made $70,000 to the bid of Topline Thoroughbreds / Paul Willetts Bloodstock when reoffered by Three Bridges Thoroughbreds at the 2016 Premier Yearling Sale.

The son of Ad Valorem (USA) advances his record to seven wins and ten seconds from 35 starts with earnings of $550,050.

Laure Me In a $70,000 Inglis Premier Yearling

“I had to get back a little bit further than I wanted to,” King said.

“He got into a beautiful rhythm, tracked into nicely coming to the turn, and he was very strong late.

“It was the first time I have sat on him, so all credit to Dave and the team who have prepared him really well.

“I had a chat to Jason Collett the other day, as he knows the horse well, and he gave me a few pointers.”

Laure Me In is the best of four winners from five to race out of the imported Highest Honor mare Laurelling (USA).

A placegetter in France, Laurelling (USA) is a sister to the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy winner Medaaly and a half-sister to dual Group II winner and multiple Group 1 placed Charwood Forest, a former shuttler to Widden Stud.

Laurelling (USA) has an unraced 2yo filly by Kiss And Make Up named Country Style. Exported to New Zealand in 2019,  Laurelling (USA) has a yearling filly by Astern and a weanling colt by Ocean Park.

She was covered by Ribchester (IRE) last spring.

Laure Me In becomes the 15th stakes winner for Danzig’s Group 1 Middle Park Stakes winner Ad Valorem (USA).

Beginning his career shuttling to Woodlands Stud in 2007, Ad Valorem (USA) last covered in 2019 at Cangon Stud. The 19yo son of Danzig died seven days ago.
