Cornerstone Stud Consolidates Roster

Media Release - Monday April 19

With Ambidexter relocating to Tasmania, Cornerstone Stud is backing Valentia and Sir Prancealot in 2021.

Both stallions are proven producers of black type performers with Smokin' Val (by Valentia) running a slashing second in the Redelva Stakes on the weekend. This is now Valentia’s second stakes performer from only 17 runners and he has the best winning strike rate of any 2nd season sire in the top 25.

Valentia stands at $7,700 in 2021.

The Adelaide Carnival could throw up more black type performances for Valentia with last start 2YO winners Valentigra and Knightstown both nominated for the Group 3 Breeders Stakes this Saturday. Also nominated is the Sir Prancealot filly Princess Raffles who should relish the step up in distance after a fast finishing fourth in the Dequetteville Stakes on April 10.

Sir Prancealot is a proven Group One producer in the Northern Hemisphere and his first crop of Australian runners this season have already shown more than enough potential.

“Whilst his first crop was his smallest the most pleasing response to Sir Prancealot has been the trainers flocking back to buy them again in his second season. His yearlings have averaged $50,000 this year,” Sam Hayes commented.

Valentia’s oldest runners are now 3YO’s and whilst only having modest crop sizes the quality of his runners to date will see him cover a much larger book of mares in 2021.

“We are expecting Valentia to cover 80 to 90 mares this year at his fee of $7,700,” Hayes said.

Sir Prancealot stands at $9,900.

Sir Prancealot’s fee will remain unchanged at $9,900 in 2021.
