Not A Single Doubt Filly Leaves Them Standing

Mark Smith - Friday March 19

There was little money for Crystal Bound at her career debut over 1000m at Moonee Valley on Friday, but the glorious looking daughter of Not A Single Doubt won with the authority to suggest there are better days ahead.

Sent straight to the front by Jye McNeil, the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained filly left them standing coming around the home turn. Under little more than a hand ride, Crystal Bound defeated the last start Cranbourne winner He's Xceptional (Xtravagant) by six lengths with Taborca (Snitzel) a head back in third.

Maher said they would let settle before deciding where Crystal Bound heads next, but has not ruled out a trip to Sydney.

“That was a huge win, great for Glen and Peter Carrick who bred her up there at Noorilim (Stud),” Maher said.

“We actually trained the sister and I quite liked her and I love Not A Single Doubt.

“We gave her the one trial, she went well and we bought her here for a track gallop.

“I loved her (at the sales). Pete and Glen stayed in with Campbell Stott, who has a lot of horses in the stable, and it was great to get a win in his colours.

“She couldn’t have made a better start.”

Crystal Bound a $400,000 Magic Millions Yearling

A $400,000 purchase by Ciaron Maher Racing out of the Noorilim Park draft at the 2020 Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Crystal Bound is the second winner from three to race out of the winning Zabeel mare Crystalised.

A 1.3million Easter Yearling, Crystalised is a half-sister to Group 1 SAJC South Australian Derby and Group1 Schweppes Oaks winner Zarita (Pentire), the Group II winner Run Like The Wind (Pins) and the outstanding, Hong Kong performer Joy And Fun (Cullen).

Crystalised has a filly foal by Impending and was covered last spring by The Autumn Sun.
