Snitzel's Four Moves Ahead Off To The Golden Slipper

Mark Smith - Saturday February 27

Jonathon Munz has beaten the odds twice with his Imported Mr Greeley (USA) mare Doulmera (USA).

Passing a yearling in can be a risky business for breeders.

Munz could not find a buyer willing to shell out for what looked to be a realistic $150,000 reserve, for his Sebring filly Emeralds at the 2018 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Sent to John Sargent, Emeralds has won three and placed in four of her 15 starts including the Listed ATC Angst Quality Handicap with earnings of $346,340.

Munz has done it again with Emeralds half-sister Four Moves Ahead. The daughter of Snitzel stamped herself a genuine Golden Slipper chance with a dominant win in Saturday’s Drinkwise Sweet Embrace Stakes at Randwick.

A winner on debut at the Kensington track at Randwick, Four Moves Ahead travelled sweetly for Nash Rawiller. Settled just off the pace, the daughter of Snitzel was the last to come off the bit.

She won with something in hand by a neck from the fast-finishing I am Invincible filly She’s All Class with a further two lengths back to the Not A Single Doubt filly Mallory in third.

Consigned by Bhima Stud to the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale with a $300,000 price on her head, Four Moves Ahead was put on the float back home.

John Sargent was again the lucky recipient.

“We’ve had a hard last ten days. As I said to Nash what she does today she’ll only improve,” Sargent said.

“We could only get the saddle on her on Tuesday for a gallop and apart from that she has just swum and been led off the pony, so it was great to get the result today and we can move on.

“It will give us a bit of time, she can go to the beach tomorrow and just have a few easy days and two weeks out we’ll start cranking her up again. What she did today was very impressive and I know there’s improvement.

“She’s got a beautiful attitude she just eats and sleeps and she can be anywhere in the run and relax. Ideal two-year-old.”

A half-sister to the Group 1 Longchamp Prix de l'Opera heroine Dalkala (Giant's Causeway), Doulmera (USA) is a daughter of Daltaiyma (Doyoun) a sister to Daylami the Horse of the Year in Europe in 1999, and a half-sister to European Horse Of The Year Daylami and to Brighthill Farm stallion Dalghar (FR).

A €180,000 Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale purchase, Doulmera (USA) has a yearling colt by Pierro that is in the Bhima Thoroughbreds draft the upcoming Inglis Australia Easter Yearling sale.

After slipping in 2019, Doulmera (USA) was covered by Snitzel in 2020.

Four Moves Ahead becomes the 107th stakes-winner for Arrowfield Stud’s flagship stallion Snitzel.
