Press Statement's Newsreader Looks the Real Deal

Mark Smith - Wednesday February 10

Following a dominant win in the valuable Magic Millions Maiden on the Gold Coast on January 16, the Press Statement filly Newsreader returned home to Sydney with a flawlwess performance in a benchmark 72 over 1200m at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Ridden by James McDonald for trainer John O’Shea, Newsreader circled the field three-wide before the turn and left than standing in the straight. The 6/4f defeated Sedition (Exceed And Excel) by two and three-quarter lengths with born a warrior (I Am Invincible) a half-head back in third.

With

her second consecutive win, Newsreader advanced her record to two wins and three thirds from eight starts with earnings of $211,835.

A $170,000 purchase by Champion Thoroughbreds out of the Yarraman Park Stud draft at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Newsreader is the first foal of the well-performed Thorn Park mare Thinking Of You.
