Third Winner for Sooboog

Mark Smith - Friday January 29

With 18 lots catalogued for the upcoming Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Sooboog chose an opportune time to record his third winner when Birdsville made the perfect start to his career debut over 1100m at Werribee on Friday.

With Luke Nolen in the saddle, Birdsville was last into stride. With no jockey willing to go anywhere near the inside, Birdsville was gifted an uninterrupted passage along the rail.

He ploughed through the heavy going in the straight to defeat Turnstar (Star Turn) by one and a quarter lengths with Who Shot Suzy (Shooting To Win) a further three and three-quarter lengths back in third.

Bred, owned, and trained by Peter Moody, Birdsville is the first foal of the unraced Charge Forward mare Charego who hails from a family Moody knows well.

Charego’s granddam Mchappy (Rory’s Jester) is a half-sister to Scandinavia the dam of Magnus, Scandiva, Willander, Arctic Flight and Helsinge the dam of Black Caviar and All Too Hard.

Birdsville follows the Doomben winner Jessica Rabbit and the Grafton winner Emma Rosa in Soboog’s win column.

The handsome son of Snitzel has 11 in the draft of his home stud, Kitchwin Hills at the Classic Sale.
