The Everest - Six locked in but who's next?

With just over a month until October 14, The Everest jigsaw is starting to take shape with six horses currently locked in but there are many still vying for a place in the field.

This Saturday's racing in Sydney and Melbourne is set to provide some further clarity on which Everest aspirants will fill the remaining slots.

The Group II The Shorts (1100m) at Randwick will see confirmed Everest starters Chautauqua, Redzel, Fell Swoop and English clash while Takedown will be pushing his claims for an Everest berth.

In the Flemington Group II Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m), Redkirk Warrior has the opportunity to consolidate his position in the Everest field under The Star banner while the likes of Voodoo Lad and Japonisme could also state their case in the straight-six contest.

Among the highest rated sprinters still chasing suitors for a slot are Russian Revolution, Terravista, and Spieth.

Slot holders have until 10am on Tuesday October 10 to nominate a runner for the inaugural $10 million event.
