Sooboog Off The Mark

Mark Smith - Wednesday December 30

Following a fighting second at Warwick Farm on December 9, Jessica Rabbit was at short-odds to open her winning account over 1200m at Doomben on Wednesday, which she achieved with the minimum of fuss to ring up the first winner for Kitchwin Hills Sooboog.

Jim Byrne positioned the Annabel Neasham-trained filly on the outside of the leader first Crusade. She tended to over-race in the early stages, but when Byrne let the reins out a notch coming to the home turn, Jessica Rabbit quickly dropped her three over-matched rivals.

The

Aquis Farm colour-bearer defeated the Fighting Sun filly  Princess Sally by two lengths with the Wolf Cry colt General Wolffe a head back in third.

Aquis Farm purchased Jessica Rabbit for $250,000 out of the Segenhoe Stud draft at the 2020 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale. That makes her the most expensive yearling from the first crop of Sooboog.

Jessica Rabbit was a $250,000 Inglis Premier yearling

A clone of her sire, Jessica Rabbit is the twelfth foal and ninth winner from ten to race out of the grand producing Sunday Silence mare Bella Sunday.

A half-sister to Not A Single Doubt from the family of Snippets, Bella Sunday is the dam of the Group 1 ATC Flight Stakes heroine Oohood (I  Am Invincible) and the stakes-placed Breakfast in Bed.

A daughter of Hussonet (USA), Breakfast In Bed is the dam of Group 1 ATC Sires' Produce Stakes and Group 1 Champagne Stakes winner King’s Legacy (Redoute’s Choice).

Jessica Rabbit was bred by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum who purchased Bella Sunday for $110,000 at the 2013 Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale.

The 20yo daughter of Sunday Silence missed in 2018 and 2019.

The Group III VRC Aurie's Star Handicap winner Sooboog has had just four runners to date. The imposing son of Snitzel stands at Kitchwin Hills Stud at a fee of $13,200.
