Son of Choisir Delights at Clear Mountain Fairview

One of a handful of Australian bred stallions to achieve global success in both hemispheres, Choisir has sired 84 stakes-winners and left the winners of over $100million worldwide with his sons now standing at some of the best farms in the country.

Worthy Cause, a typically powerful son of champion sire Choisir has commenced stud duties at Clear Mountain Fairview in Queensland in 2017.



The muscular bay has let down into a magnificent stallion and taken to his new career with the ease you would expect covering his first mares at dawn on September 1.

Worthy Cause in red and black holds out triple G1 winner Turn Me LooseA Magic Millions graduate prepared by Queensland's top juvenile trainer John Zielke, Worthy Cause was a tough and tenacious racehorse and showcased his outstanding ability from the time he won on debut.

He won as a two-year-old, collected Group honours as a three-year-old and continued to record black type success as a four-year-old at Flemington defeating multiple Group I winner Turn Me Loose in the Listed VRC Paris Lane Stakes.

His biggest win came in the Group III GCTC Gunsynd Classic (1800m) by two lengths from multiple Group performer Upham.

A half-brother to Group placed Octane Flyer, Worthy Cause comes from the family of top class Group I winning sprinter / milers Referral and Singing the Blues and champion galloper Shogun Lodge who won the Group I AJC Epsom Handicap, Queen Elizabeth Stakes and George Main Stakes earning over $4.6 million in prizemoney.

ChoisirWorthy Cause will seek to add further success to Choisir's growing reputation as a sire of sires, his sons at stud including the Group I producing Starspangledbanner as well as Group I winning sons such as Olympic Glory (IRE), The Last Lion (IRE) and Divine Prophet.

Clear Mountain Fairview principal Bob Frappell could not be happier with adding a son of such an influential sire to his roster.

"Worthy Cause has settled in beautifully at Clear Mountain Fairview," Bob Frappell said.

"We are wrapped in the type of horse he is, great conformation and a kind eye.

"His pedigree and race performances demonstrate versatility and these aspects are certainly sought after when selecting a top sire prospect like Worthy Cause to stand at stud.

"He was a top level performer on the track and now he heads to the breeding barn to continue his family's success story.

"Worthy Cause is a premium option for breeders with his extensive list of credentials. He will appeal to anyone with a broodmare."

Worthy Cause stands at $5,500 with payment on a live foal available for breeders. He joins associate sires Wanted (2017 stud fee: $5,500) Hvasstan (2017 stud fee: $2,970) and Tycoon Ruler (2017 stud fee: $5,500).
