High Expectation for Ducimus

Media Release - Thursday July 30

Rivercrest Park Stud in Western Australia is home to exciting young Snitzel stakes-winner Ducimus, who was the most popular first season sire in the West last year covering an impressive list of proven stakes producers.

A powerhouse bay, very similar in physique to his sire Snitzel, Ducimus topped the 2016 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale when fetching $700,000 and proved an immediate success winning his debut on January 31, before taking the Listed VRC Talindert Stakes (1100m) at his second start.

Ducimus wins the Listed VRC Talindert Stakes

The Talindert has also been won by successful sires such as Star Witness and All Too Hard, and more recently by subsequent Group I winner Microphone.

Ducimus was dispatched to begin his stud career in WA by Orbis Bloodstock and his good looks coupled with his precocious Black Type speed proved an instant hit with local breeders.

Ducimus was the most poplar first season sire in WA in 2019.

Former Perth jockey Paul King heads up Orbis Bloodstock’s Australian operation and his support has been key to attracting a good first book of mares through the Orbis breeder incentives branded ‘Let’s Make a Deal’.

“Paul’s Perth background obviously helps and Orbis has got right behind Ducimus with some major discounts last year and this year for Black Type performing mares and dams of Black Type performers,” Rivercrest Park owner Steve Hoare said.

“It worked really well last year and he got a terrific first book of mares to set him on his way.”

LET'S MAKE A DEAL

Rivercrest Park offers Australian breeders the following breeding opportunities in DUCIMUS;

1) Mares that have placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in a Black Type Race shall be entitled to a Nomination in the 2019 and 2020 Stud Seasons without payment of the Service Fee on the terms of the Stallion Service Fee Agreement.

2) Mares that have produced progeny that has placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in a Black Type Race shall be eligible for a Nomination in the 2019 and 2020 Stud Seasons without payment of the Service Fee on the terms of Stallion Service Fee Agreement.

Ducimus covered 64 mares in his first season including the dams of: Group II winners Salsonic and Leonardo da Hinchi, as well as Group III winner Freo and stakes-winners Blackwood, Dark Musket, Rose of Choice, Takanori, Time to Test and Booklet

Ducimus has a strong female pedigree being from outstanding producer Beauty World, the dam of nine winners from 10 foals to race headed by multiple Group III winner Lite’n in my Veins, a WA star performer that won over $800,000 in prizemoney.

Of the nine winners from Beauty World, six gained Black Type with Lite’n in my Veins and Ducimus among her four stakes-winners along with High World and Loveyamadly, indicating a serious Black type family.

The service fee for Ducimus for 2020 has been set at $2750 Inc GST on payment of live foal and he is paid up for Westspeed Platinum again.
