Third Winner for Kermadec - Half-sister Heading to the MM National Weanling Sale

Mark Smith - Tuesday July 21

The lone two-year-old in a field of six three-year-olds in a 1200m maiden on the Pakenham synthetic track on Tuesday, the Archie Alexander-trained colt Dewhurst did everything like a little professional at his career debut to credit his sire Kermadec with his third winner.

With Dwayne Dunn in the saddle, Dewhurst began smartly from an outside barrier and led at every call to defeat the odds on favourite Journey Of Song (Sebring) by a neck with Not Available (Turffontein) a further one and half lengths back in third. The runner-up was obliged to race four deep the trip in the seven-horse field.

Purchased by Bennett Racing/Alexander Racing for $125,000 from the Rheinwood Pastoral draft at the 2019 Magic Million Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Dewhurst is the first foal of the winning Denman mare Majestic Faith who was purchased by Rheinwood Pastoral for $85,000 at the 2017 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

Dewhurst was a $125,000 Magic Millions Yearling

Majestic Faith is a three-quarter sister to dual Listed Stakes winner Black Minx (Lonhro) the dam of Group III winner and multiple Group 1 placed So Si Bon (So You Think).

A yearling filly by Dissident out of Majestic Faith failed to make her $100,000 reserve at this years magic Millions Gold coast yearling sale however Dewhurst’s win will prove timely for the weanling filly from the first crop of Merchant Navy that will be offered by Rheinwood at the upcoming Magic Millions National Weanling Sale (Lot 860).

A dual Group I winning son of the outstanding Teofilo (IRE), Kermadec will stand at a fee of $13,750 the forthcoming season at Darley’s Kelvinside property at Aberdeen.
