Vega Magic led all the way to win Saturday's Group I Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.

Vega Magic ($2.25 fav) enjoyed an unchallenged lead and was untroubled to defeat Black Heart Bart ($6) to score by 1 3/4-lengths with Tosen Stardom ($15) a short half head away in third.

He was very good today - I think he's the first horse to lead into the wind and still win. When the pace came out of the race it suited my horse, he relaxed in front, quickened well and ran all the way through the line.

Sensational run. The winner just had it too easy in front and we had to get going early to give ourselves a chance. His 400 to the 200 was incredible but Vega Magic just got it too soft in front.

Outstanding run. The pace just wasn't there for him but he hit the line strongly. I think he's not far off winning a big one.

He got a bit keen mid race - he's just got to learn to relax a bit better. He got a touch tired late but he did a good job.

He ran really well, he probably felt the track a little bit. He'll be better with that run under his belt and he'll be better over 1600m at Flemington.
