Prepared by Team Hawkes, three year-old Brazen Beau gelding Potentia was second on debut earlier this month at Cranbourne when he did plenty wrong, but punters were prepared to forgive him today and he went to the post a hot favourite.

Drawn wide in the 1100 metre maiden, Potentia was allowed to find his feet before charging to the line to score a neck win in the 1100 metre maiden with more than four lengths back to the next horse.

A $480,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Orbis Bloodstock from the Tyreel Stud draft, Potentia is the first foal and first winner from Group III winning Written Tycoon mare Written Dash.

Potentia topped Inglis Classic at $480,000 for Tyreel Stud

Potentia topped Inglis Classic at $480,000 for Tyreel Stud

Her second foal is this season’s Group II placed juvenile Osamu (colt by Exceed and Excel) , who made $1.7 million at Inglis Easter last year.

The current yearling from Written Dash, a colt by I Am Invincible, made $700,000 at Inglis Easter last week when bought by the Hong Kong Jockey Club and she has a filly by the same sire to follow.

Written Dash has proven to be a great investment for Tyreel Stud, bought by Belmont Bloodstock for $410,000 at the Magic Millions Broodmare Sale when in foal to Brazen Beau with Potentia the result of the mating.
