Sad Passing of Might and Power

Living Legends have Tweeted sad news of the passing of two time Australian Horse of the Year Might and Power at age 26.

Might and Power had to be rushed to Werribee Equine Centre for emergency surgery on Saturday evening after suffering a colic attackm but could not be saved.

RIP Might and Power, one of the great warrioirs"I am incredibly sad to have to let you know that Might And Power was euthanised early this morning," Living Legends CEO Dr Andrew Clark said via Twitter.

“Our hearts are with owner Nick Moraitis & Bob’s many fans & also to our wonderful staff who cared for him every day.

"Living Legends will never be the same without our treasured Might And Power. A special thank you to Werribee Equine Ctr for their efforts to save his life."

Trained by Jack Denham for Nick Moraitis, Might and Power won 15 of 33 starts earning over $5.2million in prizemoney with highlight wins in the 1997 Caulfield and Melbourne Cups and the 1998 Cox Plate and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

One of the great champions sired by Zabeel, Might and Power was a ferocious competitor that ran his opposition into the ground until a bowed tendon curtailed his career.

He has enjoyed a long and fruitful retirement at Living Legends bringing joy to his many visitors.
