$1.8 Million for First Foal of First Seal

Champion sire Snitzel weighed in with his first seven figure lot at Inglis Easter online when a handsome bay colt from Group I winner First Seal fetched $1.8million to the bid of Tom Magnier.

Consigned by Sledmere Stud, the colt was bred by China Horse Club, who raced his dam with much success with co-owners the late Dato Tan Chin Nam's Think Big Stud and partners.

The daughter of Fastnet Rock was bought as a yearling for $700,000 at Karaka and was given time to mature by John Thompson, starting just once at two for a fourth placing.

As a spring three year-old, First Seal famously had the better of Winx beating her not once but twice in the Group II ATC Tea Rose Stakes and Group I ATC Flight Stakes.

She retired with overall earnings of $1.2million and this Snitzel colt is her first foal.

First Seal has an I Am Invincible colt to follow but will have no foal this spring after missing last season.

The result is the highest priced sale this year for Snitzel, who has been comparatively quiet ibn the sale ring with his previous best sale for 2020 being $800,000 for a colt from One Funny Honey at Magic Millions in January.
