Greg and Jodie White and their families have been in the racing game for decades and been associated with many champions of the turf, but even they were taken aback by the win of Nettoyer (Sebring) in today’s G1 Doncaster Mile at Randwick.
“I’d have to use an expletive if I was being totally honest but I won’t do that, but I really don’t know how to explain it,’’ Greg said moments after the mare he and his wife bred and part-own won the feature event on Day 1 of The Championships.
“I was pretty emotional, I was jumping up all over the loundgeroom. The first thing that came to my mind was ‘I just bred a Doncaster winner’.
“We couldn’t be more excited. The horse had it won at the 400m, she changed gears and she’s got a devastating sprint which she showed today when it mattered most.’’
The White’s offered Nettoyer at the 2015 Easter Yearling Sale in the Riversdale Farm draft.
She realised $20,000 to John Crowley, whose partner Wendy Roche has trained the now 6YO mare to G1 glory.
Following today’s success, Nettoyer (pictured) has won almost $1.5m in prizemoney.
Nettoyer is one of 46 individual G1-winning Inglis graduates since the start of 2018, 18 of which are from the Easter Yearling Sale alone.
Nettoyer’s dam Cleanup will be offered in foal to The Autumn Sun as part of the 2020 Chairman’s Sale catalogue, which will be released next week.
“Nettoyer was an immature thing with knocked knees at the sale, hence the $20,000 at Easter but with all the time she’s had, to be a 6YO mare winning a Doncaster, she’s one out of a box,’’ White said.
After buying her at Easter in 2015, Crowley breezed Nettoyer up and presented her at the Inglis Ready2Race Sale later that year, and today she became the first G1 winner of an Inglis 2YO Sale.
Riversdale’s Nick Hodges was similarly in shock following today’s win.
“I can’t believe it. It was such a thrill to see her go around but to win it, wow,’’ Hodges said.
“For a farm our size, we don’t sell a high volume of yearlings, so it means a huge amount.
“We’re very grateful to be able to sell yearlings for Greg and Jodie, we’ve sold their yearlings for years so to be able to be a part of their success, we’re very lucky. We’re just the vendors, they bred the horse and have been much more involved than us.’’
Riversdale will offer five horses at next week’s Virtual Easter Yearling Sale.
Two of those – lot 63 (Sebring x Mine Two) and lot 401 (Sebring x Danesiri) – are bred by the Whites.

The sale received several significant pedigree updates today, headed by King’s Legacy (Redoute’s Choice) winning the G1 Inglis Sires at Randwick.
His full sister is lot 355 (ex Breakfast In Bed), being offered by Segenhoe Stud.
“She's a typical high quality Redoute's Choice, a very scopey filly with a beautiful head who has just improved, improved, improved during the prep,’’ Segenhoe’s Peter O’Brien said.
Today’s big pedigree update for Segenhoe comes a week after Shout The Bar (Not A Single Doubt) won the G1 Vinery Stud Stakes at Rosehill – Segenhoe will also offer her full sister (ex Drinks All Round) as lot 416 at Easter next week.
Earlier on today’s Randwick program outstanding Easter colt Doubtland (Not A Single Doubt) announced himself a star juvenile with a dominant win in the Widden Stud sponsored G3 Kindergarten Stakes.
The Hawkes Racing-trained youngster toyed with his rivals, keeping his unbeaten record intact at his second career start.
Doubtland is a $1.1m buy for Orbis Bloodstock from Arrowfield Stud at last year’s Easter Yearling Sale.
“He was an outstanding colt at Easter and he’s developing into an outstanding racehorse on the track,’’ Orbis’ Paul King said.
“The most exciting thing is his best is yet to come and he’s going to make a very serious 3YO.’’
Arrowfield Pastoral and GSA Bloodstock bred Doubtland.
Late in the day magnificent filly Rubisaki made it career win No.7 at start No.9 with a devastating victory in the G3 PJ Bell Stakes.
It ensured she achieved an unbeaten preparation – five starts for five wins – which included the $1m Inglis Sprint plus two Stakes successes.
Rubisaki is an $85,000 Classic Yearling Sale purchase for Joe O’Neill’s Prime Thoroughbreds, from Edinburgh Park, who also bred the filly.
Today’s win took her prizemoney to over $1m.
And the Peter and June Dunn-owned Entente (Dundeel) led from pillar to post to run his rivals ragged in the G3 Carbine Club Stakes.
It was a second consecutive win for the talented Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained 3YO, who Shaun Dwyer bought for $105,000 from Bombora Downs at the Premier Yearling Sale.
Bred by Phil Bennett and his daughter Steph Bansemer, Entente will likely continue his autumn carnival in the G3 Frank Packer Plate at Randwick in a fortnight.
In an Inglis graduates quinella today, Entente defeated Easter 3YO Bottega.
At Morphettville another pair of talented 3YOs proved successful at Stakes level with Dalasan (Dalakhani) winning the Listed Port Adelaide Guineas and Meuse (Snitzel) claiming the Listed Laelia Stakes.
Dalasan has been mixing it with some of the best 3YOs in the country the past six months and was perfectly placed today by his trainers Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas.
Bred by the Toorak Thoroughbred Breeding Trust, Dalasan is an $80,000 Premier Yearling Sale purchase for his trainers, from Mill Park Stud.
He has now won almost $2m in prizemoney.
For Meuse it was a highly valuable first Stakes victory.
She herself is a $500,000 Easter Yearling Sale buy for Nick Wakim’s Hilldene Farm and Gelagotis Racing from Newgate Farm, who offer a full-sister in blood as lot 152 at next week’s Easter Yearling Sale.
Meuse is co-bred by Blake Sandblom and Henry Field.
