One to Watch – Wagga

Tara Madgwick - Monday March 30

Widden Stud’s Nicconi can get a very fast horse as we all know and this debut two year-old winner at Wagga on Monday was a lot faster than his rivals.

Private Agent as a yearlingA heavily backed favourite from the Kurt Goldman stable, Private Agent won his only previous barrier trial a week ago and ran right up to that form to win as he pleased.

He mustered speed quickly for Winona Costin from an inside gat to led and powered away dow the running to win the 1000 metre scamper by four and a half lengths in a brisk 57.70 seconds.

A $120,000 Inglis Classic from the Kenmore Lodge draft, Private Agent is the first winner from Daria, a Redoute’s Choice full sister to Group II winner Honorine from the family of European champions Darjina and Almanzor.

Nicconi has had a strong sales season in 2020 with 50 yearlings averaging $87,620 from a service fee of $16,500 and with big crops of rising two and three year-olds his fortunes are on an upswing.
