Fastnet Filly Wins WA Oaks – Half-Sister in Inglis Easter

Quality Perth based filly Tuscan Queen scored a commanding victory in the Group III WATC West Australian Oaks (2400m) at Ascot on Saturday giving her owners Bob and Sandra Peters their sixth consecutive win in the race and their 11th overall.

Tuscan Queen wins the G3 WA OAks - Western RAcepixTrained by Grant and Alana Williams for Bob and Sandra Peters, Tuscan Queen was already a stakes-winner and relished her first try at the classic distance, surging clear to win by two lengths.

Her overall record now stands at five wins and a second from nine starts with prizemoney just shy of $400,000 and she will now progress to the Group II WA Derby (2400m) on April 11.

A $300,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Coolmore draft for Belmont Bloodstock on behalf of Mr and Mrs Peters, Tuscan Queen is the best of three winners from three foals to race from Group III winning Zabeel mare Tavarnelle, who comes from the family of Group I winner Zirna and Group III winner Crafty Irna.

Bred by the Crismale family’s Matrix Bloodstock, Tuscan Queen keeps the record perfect for Tavarnelle, who has a yearling filly and weanling filly to follow, both by American Pharoah.

Lime Country Thoroughbreds will offer the American Pharoah half-sister to Tuscan Queen as Lot 237.
