One to Watch – Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday March 18

Hawkes Racing have trained three Group winning siblings to this Randwick winner on Wednesday so it’s hardly surprising they believe he will follow in their footsteps.

Three year-old Savabeel gelding Zebrowski was gelded after two starts last spring that produced a second placing and has returned a much stronger and more focused horse.

He broke his maiden at Newcastle on March 6 and stepped straight up to a Benchmark 70 event over 1550 metres and quickly showed his potential with a dominant length and a half win.

Retained to race by his breeders, Zebrowski is a sibling to Group II winners Leebaz and Polish Knight as well as Group III winner Euro Angel being the fifth winner from five to race from stakes-winner Polish Princess (GB).

“He’s a beautiful horse with a lot of upside and definitely heading the right way,” said co-trainer Michael Hawkes.

“He’s got a couple of brothers and sisters that go OK, but maybe he can emulate his half-brother Polish Knight who won a G2 Tulloch Stakes. We’ll just see how he pulls up and go from there.”
