Juvenile Double for Champion Sire Snitzel

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday March 18

Currently leading the Australian two year-old sires list by earnings and winners, champion sire Snitzel is having a bumper season with his juveniles and added two more winners to his tally on Wednesday.

Gerald Ryan put the polish on Snitzel during his racing career and has a great record with his offspring saddling promising colt Cultural Amnesia to score a dominant win over 1400 metres at Randwick.

Cultural Amnesia as a yearlingThird on debut at Warwick Farm last month, he then bumped into a smart one when finishing second beaten a short half head at Newcastle behind Thermosphere, who then came out to win the Group III ATC Magic Night Stakes and runs in the Golden Slipper on Saturday.

“I’ve always had time for this colt, he’s just very laid back,” said Ryan.

“He’s a really nice horse and we’ll now look to the Fernhill (1600m) in a few weeks time at Randwick over the mile.”

A $450,000 Inglis Easter purchase for his trainer from the Sledmere Stud draft, Cultural Amnesia runs for a big ownership group headed by Carl Holt in whose colours he runs and includes the China Horse Club, who bred the horse.

He is the first winner for Zenon, a winning half-sister by Super Saver (USA) to stakes-winner I Have No Fear from Group II winner Countess Christie.

Snitzel racked up a quick two year-old double when the Toby and Trent Edmonds trained colt Xerri scored at Doomben by a neck at his second start as favourite.

Cultural Amnesia and Xerri make it 14 Australian two year-old winners this season for Snitzel, who will be represented in the Golden Slipper on Saturday by his Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Away Game.
