McEvoy to Rosemont

Media Release - Monday March 16

In a major coup for Rosemont Stud and the Victorian industry, Widden Stud Nominations and Marketing Manager Ryan McEvoy has accepted the role as General Manager – Bloodstock.

Ryan McEvoy is joining the team at Rosemont StudMcEvoy will join Rosemont having spent 15 years as Head of Nominations and Marketing for Widden.

In that period, he has overseen the launch of leading stallions such as SEBRING, NORTHERN METEOR, ZOUSTAR and more recently driven the marketing and nominations behind the likes of Group One stars TRAPEZE ARTIST and WRITTEN BY.

“Widden has largely been my life for the last 15 years and I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to work in such an organisation,” McEvoy said.

“The Thompson’s have continued to develop and evolve what is one of the most reputable brands in world thoroughbred breeding and I leave knowing the stud could not be in a better position thanks to the management of Antony, Katie, Derek Field and David Merrick. I will have nothing but fond memories of my time at Widden and the wonderful people working there.”

McEvoy has spent the better part of a decade as Widden’s Victorian representative and it is the future of Rosemont that attracted him to the role.

“Rosemont has, over a relatively short period of time, developed a strong and reputable brand with an exciting future. I have admired their willingness to invest in all areas of the industry, be it a significant racing team, broodmare band, facilities, staff and welfare. They have a profound and positive engagement in all areas. Complimenting this is a truly world class property backed up with a passionate, professional and enthusiastic team,” McEvoy added.

“Nigel Austin and Anthony Mithen are entrepreneurial guys, very forward thinking and determined to establish Rosemont as one of the pre-eminent stud farms in Australia. Their ambition and longterm vision of the business has inspired me to join the team.”

Rosemont Principal Anthony Mithen described the appointment as a great endorsement to the direction the stud is taking.

“Having someone with Ryan’s energy and expertise will be invaluable to the future direction of Rosemont Stud. We have observed the skillset he has developed at a great organisation such as Widden and been impressed with what he has achieved in his career to date combined with his obvious leadership qualities,” Mithen said.

“His integrity and regard throughout the industry is of an extremely high level and I believe he will be a great fit for our business going forward. We’re pumped to have Ryan join the team and add to the quality group of individuals we have here at Rosemont.”
