All Star Mile Draws Top Class Field

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday March 10

The $5million All Star Mile (1600m) this Saturday at Caulfield has drawn an amazing field with 10 of the 15 runners being Group I winners which span the full spectrum of racing to include three year-olds, star mares and older weight-for-age warriors.

Can Alligator Blood mix it with the big boys? We find out on Saturday. While the initial premise of the All Star Mile was greeted with scepticism, the field this year would suggest trainers and owners have gotten right on board and this fantastic field is testament to their support.

Of the 10 Group I winners engaged, eight are current season G1 winners – Kolding (Ocean Park), Black Heart Bart (Blackfriars), Fierce Impact (Deep Impact), Regal Power (Pierro), Streets of Avalon (Magnus), Melody Belle (Commands), Alligator Blood (All Too Hard) and Flit (Medaglia D’Oro), plus last season’s Queensland Derby winner Mr Quickie (Shamus Award) and VRC Oaks winner Aristia (Lonhro).
