G1 Winning Savabeel Mare Hasahalo For Sale on Gavelhouse

Media Release - Tuesday March 10

A rare opportunity to purchase a young, Group One-winning daughter of Champion Sire Savabeel off the track is the latest drawcard for online auction site gavelhouse.com.

HasahaloOne of the stars of her generation, Hasahalo has taken her Go Racing syndicate on a dream ride but it is time for the quality five-year-old to enter the next phase of her career.

“As a yearling she was hard to fault and I only had a few things noted down about her in my catalogue, which is a good thing,” Go Racing’s Albert Bosma said.

“All I put was that she had a sweet filly’s head and was very balanced and light on her feet.

“As a two-year-old she was precocious and had electric speed and as a three-year-old she was even better.

“There’s been a lot of interest in her as news of her retirement’s filtered out and I know gavelhouse.com is the right place to sell her as the timing is right with a good lead into the breeding season for people to plan their matings.”

Trained by Stephen McKee, Hasahalo raced as an early two-year-old finishing runner-up to Gift Of Power in the Gr.2 Wakefield Challenge Stakes (1200m) with the now 10-time Group One winner Melody Belle in third.

She secured her first Group win at her following start when taking out the Gr.3 Eclipse Stakes (1200m) before subsequently finishing runner-up to Melody Belle in the Karaka Million 2YO (1200m).

The highlight of her classic year was her four-length triumph in the Gr.1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas (1600m).

Hasahalo is a daughter of New Zealand Champion sire Savabeel who recently sired his 20th Group One winner and is represented by 98 stakes winners. She is out of an Encosta de Lago half-sister to Generous Nature, the dam of Group winners Savvy Nature and Addictive Nature.

“We’re thrilled to have been entrusted with presenting such a high class mare to the market and having seen her last week, she looks magnificent and has the physical attributes to back up her outstanding race record and pedigree,” gavelhouse.com General Manager Haylie Martin said.

“She’s a must see for all serious investors in mares and we expect there to be strong international interest in her over the coming days.”

The auction closes from 7pm on Monday 16 March and features 111 Lots in total, with Hasahalo kicking off he night’s selling action as Lot 1.
