Grant Mayer has been appointed to the role and will start his new post in late October.

The SAJC says Meyer "brings a wealth of experience in sports administration" having previous held management positions at Greater Western Sydney in the AFL, Manly and the Wests Tigers in the NRL and most recently in the A-League at Adelaide United.

"We were very impressed with the quality of applicants, not only from within racing but also from business and sports administration backgrounds," SAJC Chair Bodelle Francis said.

"The club is at an important time in its history, and the Board took the view that we needed someone who could bring a fresh approach while also having considerable experience in running a large, member-based organisation.

"We believe we have that in Grant and we're excited about the skills he will bring to our organisation."
