Inglis Premier First Season Sires

Tara Madgwick - Monday March 2

The 2020 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale Book One continued the trend we have seen at other Australasian yearling sales this year with shuttle sires proving popular and four of the top five first season sires by average with three or more sold all being shuttlers.

Darley’s Territories (IRE) was the star performer with three yearlings averaging $223,333, a great return from a $22,000 fee.

$350,000 Territories filly from Kaniana

The Group I winning miler by Invincible Spirit also had the single highest result for a freshman sire with his filly from Kaniana making $350,000 for Millford Thoroughbreds when bought by star thoroughbreds/ Randwick Bloodstock.

Based in Tasmania at Armidale Stud, High Chaparral’s Group II winning son Alpine Eagle did surprisingly well with three yearlings selling at an average $128,333, a pheneomenal result off a $7,700 service fee.

$180,000 Alpine Eagle filly from God Bless Us

His best result was the half-sister to Group II winner Soul Patch from God Bless Us that made $180,000 for Armidale Stud when bought by Soul Patch's trainer Ken Keys.

Alpine Eagle was the lone Aussie bred sire in the Top 5 by average (three or more sold) with special mention for Kitchwin Hills based Sooboog, who did get $250,000 for his one and only entry in Book One which was the half-sister to Group I ATC Flight Stakes winner Oohood and was snapped up by Aquis.
