Golden Slipper Order of Entry Shake Up Looms

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday February 18

With the running of the $1.5million Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes this weekend and the first of seven official Golden Slipper lead up races, we can expect the order of entry for the Golden Slipper to now start taking serious shape.

Prizemoney won in lucrative sales incentive races run by Magic Millions and Inglis is ineligible for horses looking to qualify for the Golden Slipper, so now is when we see what really counts.

Cellsabeel is a key Golden Slipper contender to watch this weekend The Group II ATC Silver Slipper this Saturday is the first of the exempt from ballot races to be run with the Sweet Embrace Stakes, Skyline Stakes, Reisling Stakes, Todman Stakes, Magic Night Stakes and Pago Pago Stakes all unfolding over the following three weekends before the Golden Slipper on March 21.

The winners of those races if not already on the list will leapfrog past existing stake earners making it a tense time for owners and trainers looking to secure their place in the $3.5million Golden Slipper.

Key runner in the Silver Slipper will be Hinchinbrook filly Cellsabeel, who was withdrawn from the $2million Inglis Millennium in favour of a race that would steer her directly into Golden Slipper for which she is favourite.
