Exciting Rubick Filly Wins $1million Inglis Sprint

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday February 12

Rubick’s star performer Yes Yes Yes might have been retired to stud, but he has another potential topliner waiting in the wings with progressive filly Rubisaki showing her class to win the $1million Inglis Sprint (1200m) at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Trained in Victoria by Patrick Payne and sporting the familiar colours of Joe O’Neill’s Prime Thoroughbreds, Rubisaki was sent out favourite and surged through the wet conditions late to win eased down on the line by a length and a half.

Winning connections of Rubisaki“There were some good horses in that race, but she’s a good filly,” said Joe O’Neill.

“Now we just need to work out where we go next. There are a lot of good three year-olds, but there won’t be many fillies better than her.

“She has a great ownership group, some of them have been with me fore years and they come from as far as Tasmania and the Gold Coast and Tamworth, just lovely people.”

An $85,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Prime Thoroughbreds from the Edinburgh Park draft, Rubisaki has built an imposing record with five wins and two seconds from seven starts with prizemoney in excess of $850,000.

Patrick Payne was full of praise for the filly who gives her best every time she steps out.

Rubisaki was bred and sold by Ian Smith's Edinburgh Park“She has a great attitude and has been like that since she was a baby,” he said.

“That great attitude is going to take her a long way.”

Rubisaki was bred by Ian Smith and is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Senro Kisaki, a Sydney metropolitan winner by Danehill Dancer (IRE).

Coolmore’s Colm Santry has had a hand in the extended pedigree of Rubisaki.

He purchased her dam Senro Kisaki as a yearling at the Inglis Scone Sale for $80,000 and he also bought her imported mother Leifling (USA) from the Tattersalls Sales in the UK back in 1996 on behalf of Greg Nattrass, who bred Senro Kisaki.

The Coolmore team were delighted to have Senro Kisaki back at the farm last spring to visit Rubick again and she has a lovely weanling filly by So You Think.

Her current yearling is a colt by Sizzling that was offered by Edinburgh Park at Magic Millions and not surprisingly snapped up by Prime Thoroughbreds for $100,000!

Rubick yearlings were great buying at Inglis Classic over the past three days with 17 yearlings averaging $69,471 and five selling for $100,000 or more with a colt from Elite Dane his top seller at $160,000.
